How can I estimate my basket’s weight?

Updated Lire en français

The short answer

Multiply each item’s weight by its quantity, add the results and include final packaging. Prefer a measurement of the same product and variant. Keep estimated weights clearly labelled as estimates.

A category such as hoodie or shoes cannot determine an exact weight. Material, size, accessories and packaging can all change the result substantially.

Build a useful estimate

  1. Collect measured weights for your product references, noting whether boxes are included.
  2. Multiply by the actual quantity: a listing may describe a multipack.
  3. Add uncertain components and transport packaging separately.

Understand the limits

A measurement for a different size is still an approximation for your order. Where some items lack data, prepare a range. For a bulky item, also collect dimensions because the line may charge by volume. The warehouse can confirm the weight of the prepared parcel before shipment.

Frequently asked questions

Should I count the boxes?

Yes if they will travel with the items. Check what each measurement includes to avoid counting them twice.

Is weight enough to calculate shipping?
